Welcome to The GOOD 30-Day Challenge (#30DaysofGOOD). Each month, we challenge our community members to do something that will improve the world around us—and our own lives. The challenge for September? To connect with other people. In an effort to help us all rise to the occasion, we're going to assign one small task every day. Each morning, we will post the challenge on GOOD.is and Twitter, along with a testimonial from someone on the GOOD team who's already completed it. We invite you to complete all 30 mini-challenges with us! Today, we challenge you to.

Ask for someone's advice, and take it.

??In the kitchen, I explained the opportunity to my roommate Katelynn: I needed to write a blog post in which I ask somebody's advice and take it. This was her chance to share a pearl of wisdom that would be acted out in full view of cyberspace. Her advice? Describe the arc of my experience with yoga. No profundity there; but rules are rules. So here I go:??

The first memory I have of yoga takes place in my friend's mother's home yoga studio. Facing the center of the room, we would hold onto ropes connected to the wall and lean forward so our arms and shoulders stretched out behind us.

??In college I took a PE class called Iyengar Yoga. We took time in each pose and he talked a lot about skeletal and muscular alignment in the poses. After college I was living abroad and had a good stint of about 18 months where yoga was part of every day. Each morning I did three sun salutations facing the north wall of my room and then meditated for 25 minutes facing the east wall of the room. This was, without a doubt, the height of my yogic career.??

In the past two months, I've gone twice to Brian Kest's Power Yoga in Santa Monica. Each time, I sweated more than I ever thought possible. ??I look forward to an ongoing and satisfying relationship with the ancient Indian art of yoga.
