Some prominent politicians are out there saying that we have the "best health care system in the world." Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) just said so. So did Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK). Rush Limbaugh said it a few weeks ago.But you know who doesn't think America has the best health care system in the world? The vast majority of Americans who aren't senators or millionaire radio entertainment program hosts. That's according to a new Pew poll:According to Americans the United States does not have the best health care in the world. Most see our health care as average (32%) or below average (27%) when compared with health care in other industrialized countries. Only 15% support the often-used political talking point that America has the best health care in the world...America is home to some brilliant doctors and specialists and has a lot of cutting-edge medical research going on. I'm sure Rush has a great plan that gives him access to all of it (plus some extra meds). People with lots of money or the right jobs can be pretty well taken care of. But that shouldn't be confused with a good health care system that provides efficient, affordable care for the rest of us.Via Ezra Klein
