Team Germany has emerged victorious in the Solar Decathlon, a competition to design a comfortable and efficient house of the future.Their surPLUShome is, in essence, a two-story cube covered in solar panels. Inside there aren't any closed-off "rooms"-just one continuous space. It's sort of reminiscent of the obelisk from 2001: A Space Odyssey, and it produces three times as much energy as it uses. This same team won the last Solar Decathlon in 2007.
