Currently, participation in the supplemental nutrition (food stamp) program is not high enough to keep food insecurity or obesity at bay. The graphic doesn't tell us why or how strong the links between obesity and hunger are, but as its creator Anne Mai Bertelsen writes, it could lead to better data and new solutions for tackling the dual crises of hunger and obesity.
