A McDonald's franchise in Canton, Ohio, is telling employees, in a letter included with their paychecks, to elect "the right people."
This is insane. A McDonald's franchise in Canton, Ohio, is telling employees, in a letter included with their paychecks, that "if the right people are elected, we will be able to continue with raises and benefits."
shall print or authorize to be print...or post or exhibit in the establishment or anywhere in or about the establishment...handbills containing any threat, notice, or information that if any particular candidate is elected or defeated, work in the establishment will cease in whiole or in part, or other threats expressed or implied, intended to influence the political opinions or votes of...its employees.

The owner of the franchise, Paul Siegfried, has apologized in a statement:
"Distributing this communication was an error of judgment on my part," Siegfried's statement said. "Please know it was never my intention to offend anyone. For those that I have offended, I sincerely apologize."

The General Manager of McDonald's Ohio Region chimed in: "While clearly this was poor judgment, we don't believe it was intended to offend anyone."
Of course it wasn't "intended to offend anyone." The problem isn't that Siegfried hurt people's feelings. The problem is that it's wrong for Siegfried to coerce employees into voting a certain way based on what's going to make him money.
Someone tell the Tea Party voter intimidation squad.
