The owner of the franchise, Paul Siegfried, has apologized in a statement:
"Distributing this communication was an error of judgment on my part," Siegfried's statement said. "Please know it was never my intention to offend anyone. For those that I have offended, I sincerely apologize."

The General Manager of McDonald's Ohio Region chimed in: "While clearly this was poor judgment, we don't believe it was intended to offend anyone."
Of course it wasn't "intended to offend anyone." The problem isn't that Siegfried hurt people's feelings. The problem is that it's wrong for Siegfried to coerce employees into voting a certain way based on what's going to make him money.
