Sol Cinema is a solar-powered mobile movie theater that seats eight adults, and does so with vintage charm.
Photovoltaic panels collect energy from sunlight, which is stored in the cozy theater's lithium ion batteries. Inside, an LED projector plays mostly short films and music videos.
The Sol Cinema is a nonprofit organization that recently received funding from the art charity Undercurrents. It operates out of South Wales but can be hired to bring its theater anywhere in the world. Hire prices apparently include "cost of delivery of a cinema powered entirely by renewable energy, staff including an usherette, public liability insurance, Solar panel display, and a wide selection of short films."
