TakeOutWithOut is a new online campaign to get restaurants to reduce their waste. They have three principles they're trying to promote: They want people to refuse unnecessary packaging, they want restaurants to accommodate people who bring their own containers to get take-out, and they want people to adopt less wasteful eating habits. This is a great idea. Delivery meals are a big problem as well. I think we could reduce a lot of waste if restaurants just asked people if they want things like plastic utensils, packets of soy sauce, and the little plastic tubs of condiments when they place a delivery order. I'd be easier to get restaurants to make people opt-in for the extraneous junk than to get customers to be vigilant about refusing it. The restaurants would even save a little money.Via TreeHugger.
