Transportation alert: General Motors and Segway have teamed up to build a crazy, newfangled movement contraption. An electric vehicle that rolls on two wheels, it goes by the name of Project Urban Mobility and Accessibility, P.U.M.A. for short. It also goes up to 35 miles per hour and seats two adults.Boing Boing Gadgets is interested, but skeptical of it ever seeing the light of day at an affordable, mass-market price.PSFK asks, quite frankly, whether a normal bicycle wouldn't be a better, less complicated mode of urban transit (you know: lower environmental and financial production costs, better health benefits, nothing to charge). The same thought crossed my mind. But I, for one, don't know that I could sustain 35 miles per hour on a bike for very long. And there are a number of people who are unlikely to ever make a shift from driving to cycling. The P.U.M.A. could cover a middle ground. Here, take a look a this thing in action:[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY4msj5Q05Q&feature=player_embeddedWhat do you think? Would you give take the P.U.M.A. for a spin? Could you use it for your workday commute?
