On his way to the top, the WikiLeaks founder had a stint as a mean mooch in New York City.

Before he was in international man of mystery, accused criminal, and Nobel Prize nominee, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was nothing more than a couch-surfing bum who overstayed his welcome at friends' places while working on some big, secret project. Who knew he had so much in common with your crazy uncle Max?
In the video above, a couple who opened their New York City home to Assange years ago recounts how the Aussie proceeded to take over their couch, eat all their food, and then refuse to leave when they asked him. He would reportedly even bring strange women home and then parade around with them in only towels.
"He seemed like a very international sort, very impressed with himself," one witness to the incident says of Assange. "Quite glum and miserable."
