How parents can turn around failing schools.
Maybe you've recently seen Waiting for Superman, but don't know what, specifically, to do afterwards.
Enter the Parent Trigger, which was passed into law earlier this year. It gives parents in California the power to bring change to their child's failing school through the power of community organizing. Parents are tasked with the organizing side of the equation—and if half the parents at a failing school sign an official Parent Trigger petition, they can force the local school district to turnaround the school (reconstitution, charter conversion, etc.).
