Never before have bacon and eggs looked so perfectly designed then in the hands of
David Schwen, a Minneapolis-based graphic designer who has taken food pairing to a whole new aesthetic level. For his Instagram project 'Pantone Pairings', Schwen has compiled common palate pleasers into creative compositions based on the Pantone book—more or less a bible for designers. Peas and carrots live cutely side by side, as do cookies and milk and of course, macaroni and cheese.
Of the project, Schwen told Instagram “As a designer, you’re constantly picking color chips and pairing them up with one another. A while back I had an idea of making Pantone chips out of real household objects—sponges, cardboard, and the like. But while I was finishing up a poster design, I had taped two Pantone chips together to see how they looked next to one another. Instantly I thought of how people pair food together, and that was that. Pantone pairings.” The project is ongoing, so to see more follow
