The caption on the photo read, “If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me.”
Kala and Keira were sentenced to be put down if no one adopted them by close of business at a pet shelter on Monday. A volunteer from Angels Among Us Dog Rescue in Atlanta, Georgia heard about them and wanted to spread the word about their dire situation on its Facebook page. Right before the volunteer snapped their photo, Kala put her arms around Keira in what looked like a desperate final embrace. Angels Among Us Shared the photo on their Facebook page shortly after and the caption was written from Kala’s perspective saying, “If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me.”
Just over two hours later, a volunteer from Angels Among Us adopted the two and they were on their way to the veterinarian’s office and, more importantly, to a new life, together. The good news was immediately shared on Angels Among Us’s Facebook page. “THEY ARE SAFE!!! There are no words to tell you how happy we are that these two best friends are safe and together! Thank you for your shares, donations and offers! Just look at these two!!! This is why we rescue.”
