This is how the people of Toronto treat their roadkill.
Last Thursday morning, a dead raccoon was spotted on the sidewalk in Toronto by Good Samaritan Jason Wagar, who alerted the city via Twitter. Initially, it seemed the issue was resolved.
@jasonwagar Thank you for letting us know. This was reported a short while ago and Animal Services has been notified. ^de

However, three hours later the raccoon was still there along with a few additions.
@311Toronto It’s now after 3 pm and I guess Animal Services hasn’t been by, because someone’s having some fun now: pic.twitter.com/ff0ybbm5cX

Citizens of Toronto continued to stop by and contribute to the scene until it had transformed into a truly marvelous memorial. Still, almost 12 hours later Animal Services had not picked it up.

Finally, hours after the memorial was completed and #DeadRaccoonTO had been born, Animal Services showed up to take away the raccoon, now dubbed ‘Conrad’.

The massive amount of coverage Conrad’s funeral received, like the video below, insured that Toronto’s furry friend was gone but not forgotten.
