Follow this concerned mom through every room of her suburban house as she recites misrepresentation after misrepresentation in support of California's Proposition 23, a ballot measure that would suspend the state's landmark climate change legislation, known as A.B. 32.

So from this ad you learn that Proposition 23 is a jobs bill that would prevent a "new energy tax" from taking effect. And from a cursory glance at the A.B. 32 Wikipedia page (or a look at the bill itself (PDF)) you would learn that A.B. 32 is not a tax but rather plan to monitor and lower the state's greenhouse gases. And from a look at Proposition 23 you'd learn it has no direct job-creation provisions.

The ad, of course, is paid for by two oil companies, Valero and Tesoro. A thorough debunking is at Political Correction.

While conspiracy theories are not limited to any topic, there is one type of event that seems particularly likely to spark them: mass shootings, typically defined as attacks in which a shooter kills at least four other people.

When one person kills many others in a single incident, particularly when it seems random, people naturally seek out answers for why the tragedy happened. After all, if a mass shooting is random, anyone can be a target.
