With Friday’s Supreme Court ruling in support of gay marriage, it’s important to look back to see how monumental this day really is. This video highlights one Alabama couple that was forced to travel to Connecticut to get married because their home state didn’t allow same-sex marriage. As happy as they were to finally get married, the couple said they would have loved to get married at home with their friends and family, and felt it was unjust that they couldn’t. With the new ruling, Alabama will be forced to recognize their marriage and the many marriages like theirs, and people will finally be able to marry who they want, when they want and where they want.
