We first encountered the American painter and illustrator Mark Ryden when we picked up the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1995 album One Hot Minute, which bears his art. His aesthetic is equal parts Tim Burton and Lewis Carroll. He's since had a number of solo shows and become a strange satellite in the global "street art" constellation.
