Today's Nobel winner is in literature: Peruvian novelist Mario Vargas Llosa. Llosa's novels discuss politics and corruption in Peru and Latin America, and he is enough of a political figure that he has run for president of his home country in the past. Clearly, though, the Nobel committee surprised people with this one (there was a lot of buzz for Cormac McCarthy): TheTimes piece on Llosa's prize is notably shorter and more scant on details than any of the past week's prizes.
