I might be in the minority here, but I don’t mind Valentine’s Day. Whether I’m celebrating solo, with a partner, or with a group of friends at a bar, I’m appreciative of the excuse to have a novelty cocktail and the national reminder to say “I love you” to Mom and Dad.
Because regardless of what relationship status I check off on my Facebook page, Valentine’s Day is a good enough reason for me to do something for the people I care about. And a good enough reason to grab some tools and try new DIY projects.
I’ve scoured the Internet for all of my hackers and makers out there—so you can do what you do best: make really awesome stuff.
No how-to for a pair of handmade Ron Swanson rings yet, but I’ve got everything else from bacon hearts to duct tape roses. Yes, I said bacon hearts and duct tape roses.

Mini Tool Box: Mints aren’t just for fresh breath. Create that mini tool box out of an aluminum Altoids can. It’s the perfect size to keep in your car or backpack.
Heart Shaped Bacon: There is nothing left to say.
Floppy Disk Notebook: Remember the olden days—when we kept our documents and files on floppy disks? Go retro and put your written words into those dust-covered relics.
Leather Cuff Bracelet: Wonderwoman, Thor, Xena ... what accessory do these ass-kicking men and women have in common? Cuffs. Ditch Kay and Jared—repurpose some old leather and make a awesome cuff bracelet.
