I'm not sure if this is the first of its kind, but it's brilliant: the Seasons iPhone application will give you seasons information for "fruits, vegetables, lettuces, herbs, fungi and nuts," for wherever you happen to be. You can view local seasons versus import seasons and see a graph that shows how "in season" a given food is.Eating seasonally makes for better tasting meals and cuts down on transportation costs. And just knowing what's in season can make you an overnight gourmet in the eyes of your friends. That's a great value for $1.99.NB: A colleague just bought an imposter app called "In Season," which is not nearly as cool. $2 down the drain. Beware.Via Terrapass.
