The Global No Pants Subway Ride Is This Sunday

Strip down to show your support for public transit!

What better way to show appreciation for your local public transportation system than to take off those jeggings and ride in your She-Ra Underoos? This Sunday, January 9, the 10th-annual No Pants Subway Ride asks riders, advocates, and exhibitionists to strip down to their skivvies in a global show of solidarity for, well, I think maybe just having fun—but it does draw some unique attention to transit options in various communities.

The No Pants Subway Ride is the invention of urban pranksters Improv Everywhere and has spread from New York around the world. Last year, they estimate, they had 5,000 people riding pants-less, with more than 3,000 in New York alone, where they all converged in Union Square at the end of their bare-legged rides.

To participate, simply locate your city in the long list of participating communities. If your city isn't listed, and you've got a viable transit system (trolleys and buses do count!) you can coordinate your own ride and get it listed on the official lineup. Then simply show up at the appropriate time, prepared to get, um, inappropriate.
