Yesterday, a statue of a man with very skinny legs became the most expensive piece of art ever sold at auction in the world. Giacometti's walking man sold for $104.3 million (fees included), which beat a Picasso that sold in 2005 for $104.1 million.Even more crazy: For someone to be able to pay $104 million at auction, someone else had to be willing to pay $103 million. That statue, one of six made by the Italian Swiss sculptor, was sought after by some very wealthy people. The big spender was anonymous, though theories abound. Congratulations to whoever the winner was. You now have a not-one-of-kind statue for your living room; probably don't let the kids play in that room.
