On the heels of Siobhan's post on the report detailing the (obvious) reason people drop out of college, I find myself wondering: When is it okay to drop out? We've been raised-or, at least, I was raised-to believe that attaining a college degree was pretty much indispensable. Obviously, that's not always the case. And for the record, the language of the phrase "dropping out" strikes me as loaded with condescension (we love objective language around here). Nevertheless, I want to know:When is dropping out of school is the right thing to do?Image: cover art for Timothy Leary's Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out.
