Since President Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to replace Justice Souter on the Supreme Court, there has been much discussion of whether she would sail through the Senate confirmation process, or whether the Republican opposition would attempt to delay hearings or even mount a filibuster to prevent a vote.
